What quality do you value most in a friend?

Honesty, availability, loyalty is some of the best qualities a friend can have, and that goes for myself as well. It must be a two way street. I have friends I haven’t seen or spoke with in years, but we both know that at the drop of a dime either side will be there for each other when need be. Then on the other hand, there are those childhood friends that make it a one way street, the ones that you only hear from when you reach out, it’s kinda out of sight out of mind kind of thing. My step father told me when I was younger that the older you get in life the smaller your friend group gets, and I thought he was just saying that because all I wanted to do was hang out with my friends, I would say he was a hater lol, but in all reality and about 25 years later, I kid you not, I sit back and look around and see that he was right there whole time. Now I understand why my parents said don’t rush to grow up son. I tell my now 14 years later old daughter that sometimes, but I don’t want her to think of that as she’s this young, I tell her have fun while you’re young, enjoy life, don’t rush and live in the present moment.

What jobs have you had?

I have been a delivery driver since I was 20 years of age. I started out delivering produce to the local super markets in my city. On of my deliveries offered me more money to join their fleet and deliver seafood, only thing was that it was stinky. I was 24 then and I didn’t care, I put the money ahead of smelling stinky, I made out very well and then overtime my home started having this stitch every-time I walked into my home. My ex wife started making me leave my work clothes on the back porch. But I realized the owner I had worked for became closer to me and his true colors started to show, and when I tell you he was a piece of work, he was not a nice guy by any means. Things got really ugly when it came to extra employees and even with some of the places we serviced. That is when I understood the value of morales, the way he treated people was not at all good. After about two and a half years of processing fish and seafood, smelling like a contaminated lake, I quit because I couldn’t work for someone who had no filter and treated people like they were way beneath him. I found myself on a greyhound bus to Salt Lake City Utah to do truck school.

Do you practice religion?

I do not practice religion, but I am a firm believer that there is something greater than ourselves out there. I honestly believe that we are here for a greater purpose in this life, and to be the best we can be. I believe that all of what’s around us was created by a higher power of some sort and gave us the where with all to be great. we have free will on so many levels to do what we want in this life and to achieve greatness. I listen and I watch so many different things about religion that when I sit back and put it all together, it all ties in together as one, no matter if its christian, baptist, buddah, hindu, even some non believers tend to speak of a higher power when brought up. let me know what you think.

What are you good at?

I am good at drawing, when something grabs my attention, I tend to grab my sketch book and get after it. I scroll social media and see other drawings, and if I like it I draw it as well. I do not trace anything, when I draw it, I free hand it and it turns out pretty cool. My family likes the drawings just as much as I do and it makes me smile knowing they like my art.

Do you have any collections?

I am a collector of remote control cars, hat and shoes, that is what I find a liking to. I have collected many hats over the years, and when it comes to remote control cars, I kind of fell out of touch due to work and not having time to actually enjoy them as I did when I was a youth. But as of lately when I moved into my new home a couple years ago, I noticed my neighbor ripping and running a pretty fast remote control truck down the street, and that reignited my childhood love for the battery powered machine that I once enjoyed dearly. My wife seen it and said “why you stop playing with those cars and trucks”? I said I have no time, and she told me that there is always time to enjoy what you like, and if it brings you joy, go for it. So I went to a few hobby shops and looked around and yes I found some R/C’s that I really enjoy.

How do you feel about cold weather?

It all depends on how cold, I live in Michigan where it can get really cold during the winter months and those months can be kinda brutal. I can tolerate a little chill in the air, especially during college football season, going to some tailgate parties during the fall is awesome, and the crisp air is absolutely okay with me, but like I said before, when the dead of winter arrives, then that’s when I’m like this is COLD and I just want to stay in the house, have some hot cocoa and read or draw until Michigan thaw out again.

What’s the oldest things you’re wearing today?

The oldest thing I am wearing today is my wedding ring that I have had for 16 years and it’s more beautiful as it was when my wife and I first purchased it. It is a symbol of our love, our unity, our commitment to our marriage and I cherish it with all my heart.

Are you a leader or a follower?

I am always and have been a leader since I can remember, I like to show by example when and how to lead when the time is right. I like to help out as much as possible when I can, and when you help out you feel awesome, and I’m not talking about the help out and then post on social media, I’m talking about helping out due to the fact that you are a good person and when people see that you are doing just that out of the kindness of your heart, others tend to follow suite and that’s how I try and lead by example.

List your top 5 favorite fruits.

Growing up in a city where fruits and vegetables were not as accessible often led my family and friends to bad foods. I got a job delivering produce and that’s when I was able to get my hands on all the fruits and vegetables I wanted to, it was a complete game changer, my job let me have whatever I needed and I was able to take a lot of the produce home to share with my friends and family and I fell in love with the taste of the pink lady apple, the Granny Smith apple, jalapeños peppers was a heavy favorite. I grew into eating tomatoes and onions, and that was 20 plus years ago, and to this day I have backed off of the apples, but I still enjoy tomatoes and onions in almost every meal, but knowing once upon a time, I had no access to any of that until a great man gave me a job as a young urban kid in a big city. I did not make much for money, but I was able to make money and help out my parents with good nutritional produce and help out with a bill from time to time and I would do it all over again if I had to.
