I was doing my work route when I stumbled up on a snow thrower at the curb at a house, I pulled over to check the machine out. The machine looked to be in good condition, it was mid spring, sitting on the curb as if it was going to be picked up by the trash company. I then proceeded to knock on the home owners door to verify if that is indeed what they were going to do with it. An older gentleman opens the door and asked me “how can I help you “. I then asked are you throwing the snow thrower out. He replied in fact I am, you can take it, it works, it just needs a gas cap. I kindly told the guy, I’ll take that off your hands, I said thanks, he said my pleasure, I rolled the machine to the back of my truck, he offered to help me lift it, and at that point we began to talk about alcohol, he told me he had been sober for 25 years and it was ironic that I had began my sober journey a few months before the season changed, he told me different stories about his crazy nights, all I could do was agree, and say been there done that lol. We talked for almost two hours about getting clean for ourselves, our families, our health a plethora of things. I can type all day about my encounter with snow thrower guy, but I’ll leave it here. My encounter with him still sits with me three years later and still on my journey. My wife is a big component to my journey,
