There are moments in life that snap you back into reality. For me, it happened on an ordinary day, during an ordinary drive, when I saw red and blue lights in my rearview mirror. I wasn’t speeding. I wasn’t distracted. I wasn’t doing anything reckless.
I simply forgot to put my updated car insurance card in the car.
A small oversight — but one that turned into a ticket, a lesson, and a reminder about responsibility and presence.
The Moment It Happened
When the officer asked for my license and proof of insurance, I reached into the glove compartment with confidence… until I realized the card inside was expired. My updated insurance was active — but the physical proof wasn’t there.
